The Satanic Temple Indiana Chapter recently completed their "Menstruatin’ With Satan" donation drive event which ran from August 5th through October 20th. Northern Indiana Atheists was proud to participate in the event by raising money which was used to purchase tampons, pads, wipes, and medication such as Midol, Advil, and Tylenol, which was then distributed to charities around the state of Indiana. NIA kicked off the fundraiser on August 11th by agreeing to match the first $50 in donations. Our members and community quickly met the match and continued donating above and beyond our initial goal. By the end of the event we had raised $140. In addition to our $50 match that meant that NIA was able to purchase $190 worth of menstrual supplies for needy families.

From atop Mount Menstruation we can see 1,174 tampons, 1,031 pads, 484 pantyliners, 8 Flex discs, 1 Diva Cup, 960 wipes, and 828 Midol/pain relievers.

In addition to hosting the fundraiser we also reached out to some local establishments to see if anyone would be interested in keeping a donation box at their premises. Bicycle Tattoo & Piercing agreed to host a box which ended up overflowing with donations. First Unitarian Church of South Bend was excited to host a box which added to our overall donation. We also brought donation boxes to several NIA events including the screening of "Hail Satan?" which told the story of the Satanic Temple, a nontheistic religious and political activist group with chapters across the United States.

Menstruation is a fact of life that affects folxs from all walks of life; women, transgender men, and non-binary individuals as well. Menstrual products and the medication needed during menstruation are not cheap and many Hoosier families often struggle to purchase these necessary items each month. Menstrual products are often the top requested item by homeless shelters and food pantries. These items tend to be overlooked by donors so it made sense for The Satanic Temple Indiana Chapter and Northern Indiana Atheists to team up to collect them. The items that NIA purchased and collected have now been given to the Satanic Temple Indiana Chapter and are being distributed to shelters and charities across the state thanks to the efforts of Satanists who continually look for ways to help people in need.
